We are proud to offer a whole new experience in specialty coffee. The word ‘Specialty’ is a term to describe beans that produce the best flavors, which are from specific microclimates. Not to be confused with “gourmet” or “premium”, specialty coffee scores from 80 points or above on a 100 point scale.
Our passion drives our vision and our vision is to be the best in specialty coffee.
We import green coffee beans direct from reputable importers who work closely with responsible growers dedicated to preparing beans containing the highest potential for excellence in the final roasting and brewing stages. Personal relationships with growers and distributers have been created in order to insure quality and consistency.
The final stages are handled on site by our lead roaster, JJ Cutbirth. Trained by some of the most accomplished roasters on the planet earth, JJ has an intense passion for variety and masterful quality in all of Leap’s coffee. Our roasting operations are not only carefully calculated to produce an outstanding blend of flavor notes, but also roasted by hand – or perhaps more accurately put “sight and smell”.
Whether it’s our specialty coffee of the day, or one of our exceptional espresso drinks artfully prepared by our trained baristas, true expression of flavor is our goal. Even the water we use to brew our specialty coffee must be pure, having undergone testing to meet SCAA standards as odor free with an optimal PH balance.
Pour Over – The Ultimate Extraction
Sometimes the simplest processes, though time consuming, offer the best results. Pour-over coffee extraction definitely falls into this category. Pour-over coffee is the process of pouring water through the coffee grounds held in a filter and holder while drip extracting the coffee into your cup or serving container. Pour-over coffee systems allow the brewer to watch and adjust the flow and quantity of the water stream into the measured coffee grounds for a personalized brew result. Leap’s go-to vessel is the Chemex!
